Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family which would later include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the difficulties of her life thanks to her expansive and imaginative imagination. Songs were being written by her before she could write or read. She got her first guitar when she was 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at 11 years old. She recorded her first album during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small independent label. As a student in high school, she garnered a name in the local music scene but dreamed about a larger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964 she relocated to Nashville. Her first charting recordings on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated presenter on television at the time was searching for a female singer in his show. Parton accepted the job when she was signed in 1967 by RCA Records in 1968 and joined with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974 as her solo music, including Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene began charting the collaborations they had with each other. Following their break-up, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and the song reached Number. 1. for the first time in 1974.
