Rauw Alejandro
Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the top-streamed track within 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish and 2016 saw four. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in the year 2017, there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks that made the Top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018), while Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). By 2020 a few reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at its inclination towards mainstream, but a new generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. The group incorporated elements from different styles and electronic music.
